Giving Month is HERE!
This November, help us raise $5,000 for a hands-on, nature-based education in Fairfield, Iowa
Make it monthly. A recurring gift is one of the most meaningful ways to support the school. It gives us steady, dependable funding we can plan around all year, and it lets you give in a way that fits your budget. Even $10 a month adds up to $120 over the year.
Your gift directly benefits the students and families of Singing Cedars School - a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization*Singing Cedars School is an accredited, hands-on school in rural Iowa that educates the whole child. We prepare students to be resilient learners and capable citizens: people who think critically, solve real problems, and work well with others. We also nurture each child’s individual potential, while cultivating respect, compassion, imagination, and wonder.
Learning here is rooted in real experience. Students write and illustrate their own textbooks. They knit, build, garden, and cook. They walk the forest and prairie in every season. Our classes feel like families and our classrooms like home, where children are known and cared for as they grow.
Our approach is Waldorf-inspired, and it is designed to build lifelong learners: curious, thoughtful people who stay open to the world.
The qualities our children will need most can’t be downloaded or rushed: curiosity, focus, creativity, empathy, and the willingness to keep going when something is hard. They grow through direct experience, meaningful work, and close relationships, in an environment free of screens and commercial noise, where children learn to be present, to notice the world around them, and to care for one another.
An education like this takes time, skilled teachers, and a campus that supports it. As a nonprofit school, we rely on our community to sustain it.
Singing Cedars School is entering a new chapter. Our 2027-2029 strategic plan sets our priorities for teachers, campus, families, and community, and your gift helps carry it forward:
Dedicated, well-supported teachers: ongoing training and mentorship, and a rich curriculum with expanded special subjects, such as woodworking, music, and world language
Caring for our home: maintaining our buildings and grounds, improving play spaces, and planning for room to grow
Strong family partnerships: clear communication, connection, and support from a family’s first visit through graduation
A school that is part of the wider community: gatherings and celebrations, alumni connections, and a warm welcome for neighbors as we approach our 25th anniversary
A secure future: sound financial planning so Singing Cedars School is here for the next generation
We’re raising $5,000 this November, half of our $10,000 annual giving goal. Every gift, no matter the size, supports our mission.
