Celebrate the renewal of spring and community at May Faire — a joyful celebration filled with live music, family-friendly activities, delicious bake sale treats and picnic fare, Puppet Show, handmade gifts, and raffle drawing.

This community celebration is one of our annual fundraisers. Proceeds from fundraisers support our non-profit, independent school in offering holistic, nature-based education from 18 months and up.

A Community-Wide Spring Celebration!

Admission is $5/person or $10/family. Activity wristbands may be purchased at the Welcome Booth, along with tokens, a special type of May Faire currency especially for children to use.

Main Stage Entertainment

Kicking off at 11:30 AM with a bagpipe processional, enjoy live Celtic folk music on the Main Stage and dancing through 2:00 PM.

Family-Friendly Fun

Free activities include a scavenger hunt, spring yard games, dancing and more. Additional activities like the Sweet Stroll, face painting, Puppet Play, and gem dig can be paid for with tokens.

Picnic @ the Faire

Picnic fare at the Faire! Enjoy fresh sandwiches, simple sides, and refreshing drinks, conveniently packed for a relaxed picnic afternoon with festive entertainment.

Bake Sale + School Store

Enjoy delicious treats and shop handmade toys and gifts, lovingly made and donated by our school community.

Raffle Drawing

Folllowing the Community Maypole Dance, we'll gather at the Main Stage to announce the Spring Raffle winners.

ADMISSION & PRICES

Admission to May Faire is $5/person or $10/family. Activity wristbands may be purchased at the Welcome Booth, along with raffle tickets, and tokens, a special type of May Faire currency.

An ACTIVITY WRISTBAND is required for all Puppet Play guests in the Rose Classroom. Wristbands are $3 each. All children under the age of 5 must be accompanied by a caregiver.

TOKENS are Faire Currency that can be used by children to purchase items for the Bake Sale & School Store and participate in Faire activities. 1 token = $1.00

ACTIVITIES

A day of family-friendly fun! Take a scavenger hunt around campus, enjoy yard games on the greens, watch festive dancing, lively music, and more.

Additional activities like the Sweet Stroll, face painting, Puppet Play, and gem dig can be paid for with tokens.

ENTERTAINMENT

Kicking off at 11:30 AM with a bagpipe processional led by Tim Britton, the Morris Dancers, and the May Faire Queen, the spring celebration begins in joyful procession! The Queen offers a welcoming address at the Main Stage and Maypole dances begin.

Enjoy live Celtic folk music from the Café Ceilidh Band on the Main Stage, along with Maypole and traditional English Morris dancing, as entertainment continues through 2:00 PM. The faire also includes the tasty Sweet Stroll, a spring raffle drawing, and shared celebration of the season.

MAYPOLE DANCES

Join us for the Community Dance at 1:30 PM!

A beloved feature of May Faire is the Maypole, symbolizing the tree of life and growth of spring. As students dance around the pole, they braid colorful ribbons into beautiful patterns, reflecting the renewal of community and connection.

At Singing Cedars, Maypole dancing is part of the curriculum, supporting important aspects of child development such as coordination, balance, and spatial awareness. The collaborative nature of the dance also nurtures cooperation, listening, and a sense of social harmony.

PUPPET PLAY

Our Kindergarten teachers bring a beautiful puppet play to life, captivating audiences of all ages. More details coming soon...

PARKING & LOCATION

May Faire is held on Singing Cedars' campus located at 2149 N. B Street in Fairfield, IA.

Parking is free. Proceed down the gravel drive and our attendants will direct your vehicle to a parking spot. Drivers may drop off passengers at the campus entrance before parking. Accessible parking is available; please let your attendant know when you arrive.

We accept cash and all major debit and credit cards at our Welcome Booth, May Faire Cafe, and Sales Tent. Tokens for activities and wristbands for the Puppet Play are available for purchase at the Welcome Booth.

Are there bathrooms available?

Yes. There are indoor bathrooms in Yellow House. Accessible bathrooms are available in Lavender House.

What about the weather?
